What is Respondent / employer (reclamada)?

The respondent is the company against which the claim runs. It occupies the defendant side and bears the defense, through the statement of defense and documentary evidence (art. 847 of the CLT). Where there is an economic group, several companies may appear as respondents, answering jointly (art. 2º, §2º, of the CLT).

Identifying the respondent precisely — and its affiliates — is the basis of monitoring: it is through it, and its tax ID, that an organization’s liability is consolidated.
